Today, the Fnak Black Middle School (FBMS) tennis team kicked off its first spring season with a dual match against Meyerland Middle School, and we celebrated an exciting 13-3 victory!
Although we are a young team, we demonstrated focus, good technique, and a strong mental game while enjoying ourselves and upholding sportsmanship—the most important value of our team.
We are extremely proud of the commitment we showed leading up to our on-court success on March 5, 2026. Since the beginning of the year, we have been training hard in the mornings and on weekends to improve our skills and learn from each other.
Everything came together for us today!
In the singles matches, we had outstanding wins from Lily Merrill (5-1), Mae Davis (4-2), Oliver Barrera (5-1), and Henry (4-1). On the doubles side, our impressive wins included Garrett Dudley and Oliver Wojecki (4-0), Travis Allcorn and Jacob Bucko (4-2), Juliana Cavazos and Lily Merrill (4-0), Juliana C. and Mae S. (4-0), Avi Abaham and Garrett D. (4-2), Henry J. and Oliver W. (4-0), and Oliver B. and Ethan Brawley (4-3).
Furthermore, we want to express our gratitude to Coach Charles, all the parents who navigated through traffic to support us, and to Jersey Mike's for providing our pre-game meals!
Starting at sunup tomorrow, we will review our matches to identify our strengths and areas for improvement. For now, let's take a moment to celebrate today's successes!
A key component of our training has been new tennis courts. Thanks to the Tennis Booster Club and the generosity of our community, we raised enough funds to build an additional tennis court at FBMS.
Having two world-class courts on our school campus has been a game-changer (no pun intended!) for our training. Did you know FBMS's new courts are the fastest in Houston, providing significant advantages for our team's development?
With our upcoming match against Lanier on March 17, FBMS's tennis team is preparing for a significant challenge... one that we believe we can meet. Please show your support after classes with enthusiastic cheers for our tennis team!
Go Panthers!
