Tennis Court Security Protocols
OVERVIEW: SCT has developed tailored security protocols for each tennis facility. These measures are designed to ensure a safe environment for all students and coaches participating in tennis programs and/or tournaments.
Frank Black Middle School:
- Location: 1575 Chantilly Street; Two Orange Ball and two Yellow Ball courts.
- Access: Through a HISD locked gate, then through an internal security gate, which may require a digital code for entry.
- Ages: Five years of age and older
- Supervision protocol: Players under eight years of age must have a guardian on site during a clinic or lesson. Older players should not leave the tennis complex without prior authorization.
- Risks: Minimal overnight concerns, potential closing concerns. Unquantified security risks from commercial customers using the courts.
- Facility lock-down process: Once a Red Alert has been called, all players and coaches should move to the common area inside the security gate. The HISD gate should be locked, then lock the security gate from inside. If needed, depart through the back gate onto FBMS property.
- Red Alert protocols: Once an alert has been called, contact Don Hackett (512-627-4121) and or Anthony Castelline (832-728-9456), then call the police, and do not engage with an intruder. When on FBMS property, contact HISD-PD at 713-892-7777 for school-related emergencies or situations requiring immediate police assistance. For non-emergency police services at HISD, call 713-842-3715. When outside the FBMS fence, contact HPD at 911 or 884-3131 to request non-emergency police service. For bus stop issues on 43rd Street, call Houston Metro police at 911 for emergencies and 713-224-2677 for non-emergencies to report a concern.
Waltrip High School:
- Location: 1800 W. 34th Street, Houston, Texas: Three tennis courts.
- Access: Through the 34th Street gate.
- Supervision protocol: Players under twelve years of age must have a guardian on site during a clinic or lesson.
- Risks: Substantial overnight concerns, potential closing concerns, and unquantified security risks when using the courts.
- Facility lock-down process: Once a Red Alert has been called, all players and coaches should move to the common area inside the middle gate. If needed, depart through the back gate into the WHS property.
- Red Alert protocols: Once an alert has been called, do not engage with an intruder; contact Don Hackett (512-627-4121), then call the police. When on FBMS property, contact HISD-PD at 713-892-7777 for school-related emergencies or situations requiring immediate police assistance. For non-emergency police services at HISD, call 713-842-3715. When outside the WHS fence, contact HPD at 911 or 884-3131 to request non-emergency police service. Oak Forest Elementary School:
- Location: 1401 43rd Street, Houston, Texas: One sports court.
- Access: Through the administration gate and door.
- Supervision protocol: Players under 8 years of age must have a guardian on-site during a clinic or lesson.
- Risks: Minimal concerns, potential concerns from walkers along Lamonte Street.
- Facility lock-down process: Once a Red Alert has been called, all players and coaches should move inside the school.
- Red Alert protocols: Once an alert has been called, do not engage with an intruder; contact Don Hackett (512-627-4121), then call the police. When on Oak Forest property, contact HISD-PD at 713-892-7777 for school-related emergencies or situations requiring immediate police assistance. For non-emergency police services at HISD, call 713-842-3715. When outside the Oak Forest fence, contact HPD at 911 or 884-3131 to request non-emergency police service.
Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet School:
- Location: 901 Sue Barnett Street, Houston, Texas: One orange ball court.
- Access: During school hours, through the administration door. After hours, through the street-side gates.
- Supervision protocol: Players under 8 years of age must have a guardian on-site during a clinic or lesson.
- Risks: Minimal concerns during school hours, potential concerns from walkers along Sue Barnett Street.
- Facility lock-down process: Once a Red Alert has been called, all players and coaches should move inside the school gate if open.
- Red Alert protocols: Once an alert has been called, do not engage with an intruder; contact Don Hackett (512-627-4121), then call the police. When on Garden Oaks property, contact HISD-PD at 713-892-7777 for school-related emergencies or situations requiring immediate police assistance. For non-emergency police services at HISD, call 713-842-3715. When outside the Garden Oaks fence, contact HPD at 911 or 884-3131 to request non-emergency police service.
