Frank Black Middle School (FBMS) in Houston, Texas, has officially commenced a significant facility upgrade with the launch of its tennis court refurbishment project on February 19, 2026.
This initiative, fully funded by the school's Tennis Booster Club, marks a significant advancement for student-athletes and the broader Oak Forest community.
Located at 1575 Chantilly Lane, FBMS is a well-regarded magnet campus within the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Serving grades 6-8, the school is dedicated to excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics.
FBMS boasts a comprehensive athletics program, including UIL sports, and maintains outdoor facilities, including tennis courts, available for both school and club teams as well as community use during off-hours.
The refurbishment is expected to be completed in early March 2026 and will result in the construction of two brand-new tennis courts, making them the most modern in the surrounding area.
Designed with a welcoming, park-like atmosphere, the updated courts will be situated prominently along 43rd Street, enhancing visibility while creating an inviting green space that seamlessly integrates with the neighborhood.
The project aims to provide students with high-quality playing surfaces that foster skill development, competitive play, and overall physical fitness.
"This is a game-changer for our Panthers," stated Agustina Rastelli Wojecki, a co-leader of the Tennis Booster Club. "Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, FBMS student-athletes will have access to state-of-the-art facilities that will enhance their training and performance for years to come."
Once completed, the new tennis courts will complement the two existing pickleball/orange ball courts, serving as a valuable asset to the community.
Additionally, with a year-round tennis team program, FBMS has quickly become a leader within the HISD system. As FBMS continues to excel as a hub for student success, this latest improvement reflects ongoing investments in its athletic infrastructure.
