With her final regional tennis tournament match completed, Juliana Torchia was embraced for the last time by her Heights High School (HHS) teammates and coaches. After four years of dominating the girls' division of the Houston Independent School District (HISD), Juliana was all smiles with pride.

According to HHS Coach Israel Corona, Juliana finished her four years with a 99% winning record (1 loss) in 6A district matches, setting a record for the Bulldogs. Additionally, she rose through the USTA ranks, qualifying for several national tournaments and earning the coveted USTA Sportsmanship Pin Award in 2023.

"Of course, I will miss Coach Corona and my teammates. We accomplished so much over the last four years, including winning the Fall 2025 Team District title, defeating Bellaire High School for the first time, said Torchia.

"With a strong group of underclassmen, I believe the HHS tennis program is well-positioned to carry on its winning ways."

Juliana is scheduled to share her lessons learned at the Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet (GOMM), Career Day on June 3, 2026. The "Finding Your Purpose" theme enables Juliana Torchia to inspire students to discover how their interests, passions, and strengths can connect with meaningful careers and future opportunities. Her message to the Eagles will be highly relevant, as Torchia completed her grade school and middle school years at GOMM.

The good news for Texas tennis fans is that Juliana isn't leaving the game. She has signed to play for the Trinity University tennis team this fall. Trinity is a national powerhouse in NCAA Division III, having produced outstanding players and winning national championships. Based on Juliana's stellar high school career, achieving all-American honors for the Tigers is clearly within reach.

And when she returns to Houston, Ms. Torchia can resume her tennis coaching career at Frank Black Middle School (FBMS), where she was the lead morning coach throughout the 2025-2026 academic term.

FBMS co-captain Oliver Wojecki commented, "At 7 am, Coach Jules always pushed us to improve our strokes. And her doubles advice was a factor in our winning the district championship. We will miss her big smiles in August."

Juliana's story highlights athletic excellence and the rising trajectory of a much-appreciated superstar.

Congratulations, Juliana — from an Eagle, to a Bulldog, and future Tiger, you are winning the game of life!
